Stories of Success

For forty-odd years, we've been collecting real stories of successful partnerships which are making trade better-than-fair. Whether it's the women from the tea basket weaving cottage industry in Sri Lanka we helped develop; the co-ops we're supporting in Timor-Leste to produce a high rating specialty coffee; the folk from Torquay who have been loving our tea for many years; or the co-op whose values align with ours, we're proud of the partnerships we've been part of. There's just too many stories to tell them all, but you can read a snapshot here. We hope you are as inspired as we are by the vision of working together to change the way we do business.

Thank you so much, Fiona. Your speed of delivery and customer service is by far the best I have come across and it is REALLY appreciated!

I had a young woman come into the shop on Saturday to tell me that your ground coffee is the best she has ever bought. I also have a coffee addict try it our and he also loved it!
Congratulations on a great product!

Nan, Buys tea and coffee for her community group.

We started buying Tradewinds bulk tea for our aged care facilities some years back because we wanted to provide fairtrade tea for our residents at an affordable price. Our residents have loved the Premium blend tea, and we love knowing that every cup of tea we serve is make a difference to the lives of families in Sri Lanka. Partnering with Tradewinds is just another way we can live out our values, which include to make the world a better place.

At Charisma Coffee Roasters we seek earth sustainable, fair-trade, and high quality coffee beans. For us Tradewinds ticks all the boxes. In addition, their staff are knowledgeable and very helpful. Our customers have been very happy with the Ermera Organic coffee. The feedback has been very positive.

Our food coop has been buying Tradewinds tea and coffee for 7 years. Of great concern to our members are issues of fairness, sustainability and of course, taste. Tradewinds has moved well beyond fair trade, is deeply involved in working with the growers towards greater independence and the coffee and tea taste great. Its been a great fit for us.

Dambadeniya Export Production Village

Dambadeniya was a community development project established more than 30 years ago, to use women’s traditional weaving skills to package tea for export. This project has become a model for other basket weaving cottage industries in Sri Lanka. Dambadeniya has grown to be a huge foundation which provides employment and educational opportunities for upwards of 4500 people in the Dambadeniya region, What was once a depressed rural area is now a thriving network of villages where children achieve high results in national exams, and families are learning new skills in organic agriculture. The women basket workers have shares in the foundation’s company, elect their own executive and make the decisions about what the company should do.
