What difference does a cup of coffee make in the Pacific?
Tradewinds supported projects in the Pacific
In Papua New Guinea Tradewinds has supported vanilla bean production in the remote western highlands area of Edwaki. Funding assisted villagers to cultivate, manage and market vanilla beans as an alternative crop to coffee. Coffee had to be flown out of these remote villages and was not an economic proposition. The high return on small volumes of vanilla beans makes it a suitable substitute crop.
